Hi Isaiah,

You can try new skills using platforms like the following:
https://www.coursera.org
https://www.youtube.com (searching by the most watched channels regarding the design or the topics you like)
https://www.iu.org/lp/online-learning-degrees-at-iu/

It will help you improve and learn side skills and use these skills to get the budget to your primary focus.

You can use some freelance platforms to show yourself as a designer, start conversing with potential customers and learning from that experience, and also make some money. There are some platforms in the market, like:
https://www.upwork.com/
https://www.workana.com/
https://www.etsy.com/ (it's for small businesses)

There are a couple of strategies that you can employ to develop your skills and potentially get enjoyable employment:
1. Just do it. What ever it is that you are interested in doing, say designing clothes. Design clothes for your self, for your family, for your friends, for a fictional person. The more that you practice the things you love the better you will become at it. You will encounter challenges that will force you to understand your options and how to fix problems.
2. Talk to as many people as you can. Get their stories: how they got started in what they are doing, what training they had, who were their mentors, details of the products and services they use to further their activities. Sometimes when you talk to people they open doors for you, not because you asked or you were angling for a job but because you were genuinely interested.
3. Try new things. You never know what activites, jobs, hobbies might interest you or, conversely, what you really don't want to do, until you have some experience of them. And try for long enough so that you get over that initial period where you don't actually know what you are doing.
4. Schedule time for it. By this I mean that you don't let your time get away from you because you have a "date" with yourself to either practice your craft, or meet someone who is doing something great or you take a course to further your skills, interests, knowledge. Even scheduling time to just watch a YouTube on a specific topic is an idea to keep you engaged in your quest to find what you want and make it pay.
5. Make a list. Start with what you want, then ask yourself questions, like, who knows about this, how would I do it, where is the best place to find it, etc.
6. There is magic in some sayings. "Write it down - make it happen" is one that helps to focus your mind on what you will do and can make you accountable to do it. "Just because you don't have time to finish isn't a reason not to start" is a great one for getting a person to start what might be a big project or task. The sayings that people live by help them to accomplish their goals. These are just two sayings that have helped me be successful.

Good Luck!

Business!

I say this to everyone, but, your passion is easy to develop, find courses, learn, surround yourself with people in the industry, ask them, reach out to online personalities, do things, try things, build things, etc. Just do it (Like nike says)

However!! In order for a project to work, you need to understand business. Take classes or courses on how to create and run a business, understand how to get capital, get trust from investors, how to return that trust, how to present your brand outwards and get exposure, how do successful brands make something that works by starting small and focusing on a specific small set of things rather than creating a big space, and growing from there. etc.

Alternatively, spend some apprenticeship time with a brand that you like if they'll have you ( ask everyone, even if it's not your favorite) and once you're in, ask about running the business. This is the hardest part and it's the one that will make it or break it. The product and what you do, if it's a good idea it will work. If this is a successful business (https://nanahats.com/) so can be yours. It's not the product, it's how you create the business.
