Nicole’s Answer

This is such a good question! I believe that a good social work candidate has compassion, knowledge of cultures outside of their own, empathy and curiosity. It’s a field that requires constant growth and development of self. If you’re up for being a life long learner then you’re on the right track!

Ilene’s Answer

As previous individuals communicated: empathy, understanding and great communication skills are skills that are a must. Additionally, being a true great listener. Each individual is truly unique and therefore any advice should be pertinent to them specifically. A blanket statement would not serve the individual well and therefore you might have to dig deeper to attain the full picture. Possessing the quality of pure investment allows people to feel more comfortable in opening up to a situation that they might feel vulnerable amount. Wearing your heart on your sleeve is difficult for most of us, so a good therapist is one that can put themselves in someone else’s shoes.
