You have to crawl before you walk. Going into a career where you are driven to make money is great, however you will not get rich your first day on the job. Learn & develop your skills but always keep that drive.

Hi Karilyn,
Where there is a will there is a way, meaning, if you want it bad enough you can make it happen. However, to become rich it requires a plan of action, discipline and dedication. I stress on discipline because without it you will not make it.
First off, decide what career path you're passionate about, then evaluate that career path to determine if it will get you to your end goal. Remember, being rich does not equate to happiness, at the end of the day, if you're not happy and your life is not fulfilled, than what's the point of being rich.
Lastly, try not to focus to much on being rich otherwise you might find yourself doing unethical things to get there. It would not be worth it if it means you risk losing it all once you get there.
The most important aspect of life in my opinion is quality of life rather than quantity. Living a comfortable and a healthy life is what most of us strive for.
Best of luck!

Hi, Karilyn,
I love your question. At your age, I also was lost in all the thoughts on where life would take me. Have faith. You will do well. Rich in dollars? Maybe not. But life's success is in how you feel at the end of the day. Was it worthwhile? Did I make a positive contribution? Am I happy in the life I have? Does my job own me, or do I get to spend a meaningful part of my life on my own priorities? Listen to your heart. What excites you? What activities are pleasant and make you feel good? Follow those thoughts. AND, start writing down your dream job and start outlining what you think are the steps to move in that direction. Make each step something that can be achieved. With a list of what you want to achieve and the steps to get there, you can slowly mark them off as you proceed, or rewrite them as you go. And avoid milestones, such as 'get into college.' Instead, write down the steps you feel you need to do in order to get there. That becomes a plan. Just listing your milestones (e.g., get to college, become a <desired profession>, get rich) are just milestones. Instead, write down the steps that are under your control. You will do well.
