What are some tips that you can give me in having writers block?
I'm currently in college for a English degree and I was wondering if you had some tips on writers block.
Because I keep starting over on basically everything I begin to write.

Hmm. Writer's block is always a difficult thing to get past. Usually, it's great to completely get away from what you're writing. Do something you enjoy (it could be watching TV, reading your favorite book, etc.). When you come back to what you were writing, you will feel refreshed and have new ideas.
Thank you :)

Hi Elizabeth,
Every writer I know, including myself, will initially stare at a blank page, and not be inspired to write anything. Why? Because we're all facing doubt and fear and other emotions from our memories. We could be worried that we'll fail again, as we did when we were writing an essay in English 101. So I would suggest going for a walk around the neighborhood. If barking dogs bother you, then go for a ride. You might enjoy sitting under a tree in a local park, or even watch a duck swimming in a pond. You could hear the finches sing, and that might inspire a chance to write about your hopes for tender-loving care. If you have a beach or a waterfall, ask the water for the best answer. Try lighting a candle at a cathedral which has stained glass windows. Most of us are writing about ourselves. We just learn the format, the genre we like the most, and use our imagination to solve our daily conflicts we've been denying for years. At least, we didn't have to stare at our mirrors for a long time, or pay a therapist hundreds of dollars. Good luck.

Writers block is tricky because what may work for one person may not work for the other. Let's see I would recommend doing something that inspires you, something that makes you go wow, and motivates you to pick up that paper and pen. With me it's listening to instrumentals....perhaps you may want to try that the next time you are going to write. I hope you have found this little piece of advice to be helpful.
:) Thank you

I agree with the others to step away from it. Go do something else and while you are focusing on that the back of your mind will still be on the task. You will find that inspiration will come to you. Another way to tackle it, works the same way, but keeps you at your desk writing. It is to have several projects, or potential projects to work on. When I'm inspired I write down my thoughts immediately to work on later. I get a good start on it so the concept is fleshed out. I have a lot of these captured thoughts available. If stuck on my current project, I can review this "idea warehouse" to look for ideas - doing that gets the creative juices flowing. I find I can sometimes go with one of these other stubs I'm excited about now, instead of the one I'm stalled on, or it provides that different angle I needed to break the block. If that fails - time to mow the lawn or walk the dog, some physical activity to gets me away from the empty page.

I'm gonna give you my honest answer. Meditate. If you don't know how learn. If you don't have the patience try it for 90 days. The mind becomes creative when it let's go.
:) Kay. Thank you
