Paul’s Answer
In statistical terms the chances of becoming a professional athlete are not very high
Only 1% of the top 1% of athletic performers make it in professional sports.
So, yes the chances of success are greater in teaching, coaching and athletic administration.

This is a very good question. The answer is really up to you. It is important to understand that if you have the desire and passion for the sport, opportunities will present themselves. Never set any expectations. If you love the game and want to be around it as a career, you will find a way. Sometimes you have to start very small to reach great heights. If an opportunity comes to volunteer for youth development in the sport, or officiating the sport. Maybe, getting a job that supports the athletes on the field. These are all opportunities to get your foot in the door and grow, evolve, in the process to reach greater heights.

In addition to the other roles you can do relating to sports, also consider anything related to quality or inventory control for sports facilities, working with databases for day to day operations for sports stadiums and teams, insurance (ex. - professional sports insurance), etc. The possibilities are endless because it takes a village to support the 1% of professional athletes. No need to worry, there will be plenty of opportunities for you if you don't become a professional athlete as long as you work hard

If someone is unable to pursue a professional career in sports, they can still participate in the sports industry in various other roles such as coaching, sports management, sports journalism, sports therapy, sports marketing, sports broadcasting, and more. These roles offer opportunities to work with and for athletes and sports organizations, and still be involved in the world of sports.
