Why do some colleges expect a 17 year old to know what she wants to do with her life?
I am undecided currently in what I want to major in. Some colleges require when you apply that you apply to a specific college within the university. However they don't require a declared major until later on in college. I don't know what I want to major in and therefore choosing a college within a university seems daunting. #undecided

Most universities have a way to transfer between colleges after you matriculate--I wouldn't sweat it too much. If there's a particular college or colleges you're interested in, I've had good luck using 'internal transfer <college name="">' in google to get some info.
A couple examples of internal transfer guidelines that I found:

Not knowing what major to choose from before you start college is completely normal, and you should not stress about it. Not everyone knows in advance the career path they want to follow, and it is a big decision to make. Based on your college election, you should research the resources they have for students enrolling as undecided and their transfer requirements. I would suggest enrolling in the school you are mostly interested in, and if you are not content you can always transfer to a different college within the university. Keep in mind college is where you truly find out what you enjoy, and you are not the only student that does not have a clear view. As a personal story, I entered college as an undeclared major and with the help from my school I was able to find a major in a career that I enjoy. I knew I was interested in the business school but was not sure which particular area. As such, per my school's feedback I took different classes and finally made my decision in Accounting. Do not be afraid to start school as an undeclared major, as most schools offer pre-requirements that cover different areas, and that will help you find something you enjoy. Good Luck!
