What are some good biotech/biomedical companies in the Long Beach/Orange County area?

Thank you comment icon Hi Cristia, I am happy to hear you are interested in biotechnology! California is a great place for biotechnology. There are an abundance of companies in the Bay Area, and a pocket in San Diego as well. I am not too familiar with the Long Beach area, but I do know Kite Pharma is in Santa Monica, and Amgen is in Thousand Oaks. If you are interested in Northern California, big names like Gilead, Genentech, Bayer, and Verily are there. With a focus in Biomedical Engineering, you have a lot of options to explore in terms of industry focus including, but not limited to: Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Life Sciences, Medical Device, Diagnostics, and MedTech industries/companies.

Hi Cristia,
That's awesome that you are interested in biotechnology. I would say since you are just starting your college career to approach your professors that work in the bioengineering/biotechnology field and express your interest. They will give you some companies to follow up on, they might even give you some contacts to speak with and it gives you an opportunity to get to know your professors.
