Hi Vinayak!

Do you have a blog or website? Do you write a humor column for your school newspaper? Do you have a funny YouTube channel? Have you ever done standup at an open mic or tried improv? Any and all of that will help you because it showcases your humor as well as your business savvy (and doing standup or improv will help you network). I got a writing job after a friend of a friend happened to see me doing standup in New York, so you never know who you'll meet!

Your social media presence is a big factor as well.

You can also apply for internships at late night shows when and if you're in college, or even to be an NBC page.

Best of luck, and I can't wait to hear your jokes on TV someday!

Best,

Jess

Jessica recommends the following next steps:

Start writing on a blog or website where you can develop clips and bylines showcasing your humor.
Develop a social media presence.
Hang out at comedy clubs!
Apply for internships.

The best way to get a job at a late night comedy show is to send in samples of your work. You may also want to look into getting a job as a Page or production assistant. This will help you to network and see all the different jobs available.
