Tequanna if you enjoy making others look their best, you may want to embark on a career in cosmetology. A cosmetologist specializes in hair styling, manicuring nails, body treatment spa training, hair removal, skin care along with make-up application.
ADVANTAGES OF COSMETOLOGY
While there are clear advantages to becoming a cosmetologist, there are also some disadvantages that you'll need to be aware of before you start to pursue a cosmetology career. One of the pros of becoming a cosmetologist is that it can be both financially and emotionally rewarding. Cosmetologists who have developed a large client list and work at a popular salon can make a lot of money. Furthermore, they often have the flexibility to work the hours that they want, which can create a great work/life balance. A cosmetologist spends all their time helping clients look better which makes them more confident and helps them leave satisfied, which can make the job emotionally rewarding as well.
Another pro of being a cosmetologist is that it could be a great way to start your own business. Cosmetologists that have been working in the field for a few years, and have developed a large client list, may actually be better off financially by starting their own salon. This is one of the few fields where someone with some skill and a little business sense could easily open up their own salon.
DISADVANTAGES OF COSMETOLOGY
Because you use your hands, cosmetologists sometimes have to deal with carpal tunnel syndrome, a problem caused by repeated use of the hands, wrists and arms. The repeated actions of blow-drying hair or painting nails can be physically stressing. Some cosmetologists also have to stand up often while working.
Another disadvantage is the cosmetology field is very competitive, especially if you live in a small town that does not have many salons. You will likely have to vie for a very limited amount of positions in your area after graduation. However, that competition becomes less of a threat as you prove yourself in the field.
Cosmetologists can earn a associate degree in two years through both traditional study and practical training in student salons and clinics.
Hope this was helpful Tequanna
