Hi Edwin,
I do not think that there are specific scholarships based on going out of state. You would need to take a closer look at the expectations of the scholarship to make sure that you can go out of state. You will need to check the fine print on more than state, as some scholarships are for specific majors. I would look at general scholarships that focus on you as a person such as being a part of a certain group or a club affiliation like the national honor society. Make sure that you know how the scholarship can be applied, including geography, how much value the scholarship has each year, if it is just for classes or includes books and dormitories.

National Merit Scholarship Program: High scorers on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) are eligible for this scholarship. Colleges that sponsor National Merit Scholars provide awards to out-of-state students.
Dell Scholars Program: Sponsored by the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, this program offers up to $20,000 in scholarships to qualifying students. It's open to all students, regardless of their geographical location.
Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation: This esteemed scholarship provides up to $20,000 in financial aid to high school seniors holding a minimum 3.0 GPA. There are no geographical restrictions.

Special Out-of-State Scholarships Offered by States
Certain states provide scholarships specifically for out-of-state students attending colleges within their borders. The goal is to foster academic exchange and diversity among student populations. Here are a few examples:
Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE): The WUE is a regional agreement that allows students from participating Western states to enroll in some college programs at a reduced cost.
Midwest Student Exchange Program (MSEP): Like the WUE, the MSEP enables students from participating Midwestern states to attend out-of-state institutions at discounted tuition rates.
Southern Regional Education Board’s Academic Common Market: This program allows students from participating Southern states to pursue out-of-state college degrees at lower tuition rates in specific study fields unavailable in their home state.
New England Regional Student Program: This program provides tuition discounts for New England residents attending out-of-state public colleges and universities in the region.
Scholarships Specific to Colleges and Universities
Several colleges and universities offer scholarships specifically for out-of-state students, such as:
University of Alabama’s Presidential Scholarship: This scholarship, which covers full tuition, room, board, and books, is available for out-of-state students attending the University of Alabama. It's awarded based on academic achievement and leadership potential.
Arizona State University’s Provost’s Scholarship: This scholarship offers partial tuition waivers for out-of-state students admitted to Arizona State University’s Barrett Honors College.
University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Ragin’ Cajun Award: This scholarship provides $5,000 per year to incoming freshmen with a minimum 3.0 GPA and a 25 ACT or 1200 SAT score who are not Louisiana residents.

Hi Edwin,
When looking at schools out of state, try to get an idea of how much aid they offer. Many schools publish statistics on the number of students they have receiving financial aid, and what kinds of aid. And when you apply, look at both in state and out of state schools, and see how much aid each school is offering you.
