I want to become a Zoologist to be able to help and train animals. What would be the most direct way to get there?i know it takes 4 years and a at least a bachelors degree. I would like to start off working at the zoo for some experience with working with animals. What is the most direct route to get there?#zookeeper #zoologist #animals #animaltrainer

Hi Matthew,
Sounds like you're pretty passionate about pursuing Zoology!
While you are in school, you can gain experience by supplementing your studies through volunteer opportunities at local zoos, nature preserves or even animal shelters. Additionally, while you're in your program at a university or college, it's good to find out if the department offers field schools or other internships for students to gain experience while they work on their degrees.
I hope that helps.
Good luck to you!

as a student of Zoologythe best advice I can give is to start volunteering, and start NOW! You will need plenty of experience to get into this competitive, but extremely fulfilling, field. Volunteering at your local zoo, aquarium, or even animal shelter is a great place to start.
