Hi Tyler,

You can consider to teach younger classes (private courses).

Moreover, feel free to visit a retailer/restaurant/whatever shop you like to ask if they need a new colleague. Come prepared - make sure to always bring your CV.

Another suggestion would be to monitize on your hobby; are you good at making jewellery? Go for it! You can e.g., sell this on Amazon or Etsy. Turn your hobby in a job and you will never work a day in your life. ;)

Good luck!

at start of high school, options may be babysitting, tutoring, but always keep in mind the priority for high school (to control your schedule), option might be as well during high school breaks to do work at family restaurants (someone you know who has a business where you can help out - always within legal limits of hours)

Hi Tyler,

Balancing time as a student and an employee can be a challenge, but can offer an opportunity to develop some great time management skills (and in some cases even entrepreneurial experience).
When I was in high school, I worked primarily as a babysitter and as a math tutor. I love working with kids, so those options suited me and I was able to build a small business as well.
You probably have many friends working at restaurants and stores, but I would advise picking a job largely off of how close to your home or school it is. The less time you can spend commuting, the easier the time management will be!
There are also jobs like working in your local library that can offer additional quiet time to study while you're at work!

I would love for you to focus on studying however, you here are my suggestions and hope this will help.
- You can sell arts and craft made out of recycled materials. This will not only help you earn money, this will also help the environment making something out of used or recyclable materials.
- Home made goodies, it can be baked goodies you can ask your parents to help.

Ava’s Answer

Hi Tyler!
I would say that many places that hire high school students such as food service are understanding of school schedules and the importance of education first. Apply to a place that interests you and is convenient to home and your school. Come to an interview ready with your availability so you do not overcommit into working more than you are able or be pressured into taking on more hours. In an interview, make sure to be clear about your studies being your first priority as well as any extracurriculars that may interfere. If they are willing to be flexible and are understanding, then this would be a great way to make money and still have school as your main focus. Good luck!!

Written on behalf of a group of volunteers at HPE:
1. Shopee Affiliate - Within seven days, commission is only paid to the last affiliate link the buyer clicked before placing an order. Commissions will be charged only on the first order placed by buyers within 7 days of visiting the Affiliate Partner's link via affiliate advertisements.
2. Tutoring: If you excel in a specific topic, try tutoring fellow students who may want extra assistance. Your services might be charged on an hourly basis.
3. Sell Handmade Crafts or Art: If you're talented in the arts or crafts, you might choose to sell your works at regional craft fairs or on websites like Ebay. Other than crafts, can try baking goods and selling these to friends and acquaintances as well as post online.
4. Freelancing: E.g. Upwork, sign up and look for freelance jobs available based on your current skills and capabilities, for a high school student, probably documentation assistance, transcribing jobs, translating jobs, sales calling, lead generation, social media management, graphic designing, content creation, etc.
5. Decluttering and reselling: Find items at home that you no longer need or want to keep, then sell them offline and online.

Chirayu’s Answer

There are several ways you can make money while still in high school. Here are a few options - Consider getting a part-time job after school or on weekends. Many businesses hire high school students for jobs such as retail, food service, or customer service. Check with local businesses to see if they are hiring. If you enjoy working with children or animals, you can offer your services as a babysitter or pet sitter. You can advertise your services through social media or by word of mouth. If you excel in a particular subject, you can offer tutoring services to other students. You can advertise your services through social media or by talking to teachers at your school. There are many online opportunities for making money, such as taking surveys, participating in paid focus groups, or doing freelance work such as writing or graphic design. Just make sure to research the legitimacy of the opportunity before signing up. You can offer your services for yard work, such as mowing lawns or raking leaves, or for odd jobs such as cleaning or running errands for people in your community. Remember to prioritize your studies and make sure that any work you take on doesn't interfere with your schoolwork. Good luck!
