What should I expect once I enroll into my LVN class?

I am in the process of joining the LVN program that is offered at my school. I want to know what I should be expecting upon enrolling. I've had people say it's very fun but I want more details than just a fun time.

Thank you comment icon Hi there. I never took LPN courses but this is more of a technical degree that takes 1-2 years to complete. Have a good attitude and work hard and you can achieve any goal. LPN school can bridge to RN or more education. Best wishes in your endeavors. Sue Iffrig

LVN/LPN training is a great way to start in the nursing field. I started there as well as I wasn't sure nursing was for me. Be motivated as it is going to be hard work. Nursing school is not fun but it doesn't last forever. Bare with it and you will enjoy the reward afterwards. Once you work as an LVN I encourage you to continue your schooling for your RN and find an employer who will subsidize your studies. Nursing is a great career with many options and different levels of education. Find your niche and you won't look back.

Lorraine’s Answer

Hi Alondra,
As a student enrolled in an LVN program, you can anticipate rigorous instruction and training that prepares you for becoming a licensed practical nurse. There will be a variety of topics covered in the nursing program, such as anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, nursing procedures, and patient care. Furthermore, you will gain valuable clinical experience through the hands-on training you will receive in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities. The LVN program is an excellent place to start building a solid foundation for a nursing career. It will be challenging, but rewarding at the same time.

Expect to be putting in a lot of hard work. Classes can be rigorous. The program typically takes 12 months. After that you take the NCLEX and are then licensed. It’s hard work but very rewarding. Expect some long hard days but you’ll do great!
