Hello, Damien,
I am unsure of your question. Is it "College? Should I apply?", or is it "To which college should I apply?" I'll give a rough approach to both.

On first question, you need some post-HS education, whether college or trade school or military-sponsored skill training. The world is too complicated to rely on HS for more than broad education. Identify your view of further education and pursue what seems to fit. But do something. Your HS guidance counselor can be a big help.

On second question, I cannot advise the best college for you. There is always cost and distance and desired major/minor to consider. If you're unsure of what you want, community colleges are a great start, as attending keeps you moving forward without needing to commit to a major. There are some excellent online colleges, but I advise that some of your college years should be on campus. I say that because part of the benefit of college is the maturing of the individual in dealing with other people and in managing one's time without parental oversight. With just online learning, you would miss much of what college offers. Another consideration is college location and size. There is an old saying, "you can make a big college small, but you can't make a small college big." What that means is, if you are unsure of your desired direction, larger colleges will have more options to pick from. Location is an issue, as you might prefer a college with a large grass campus with everything available by walking or bicycle. Or you may prefer the big city environment. Although those choices are irrelevant to the courses, they can be important since you will be living there for several years. Okay, that's my high-level feedback. I wish you well.

Dear heart,

It is YOUR choice which college to apply to. Surely by now you should have an idea of what you want to do with your life. A good thing to do is to google and see what kinds of salaries different fields have but also keep in mind doing something you love and enjoy so it will not feel like work so much. No one can pick which college or university or program but you because you are the one who has to fulfill the requirements for that program. May be consider something nearby if your parents do not have the financial means to send you off to school because you will have to vacate the dorms during summer, winter and spring break and if you do not have the means to come home for food, shelter and water during those times you will be on your own!!!! I went to a school a bus ride away. Maybe that is the reason I did not finish, too easy maybe?! Darn it! I think you get the picture from my last comment! Godspeed.

Sincerely,
Si'van

Hello, Damien!

The colleges you apply to is up to you :)

A good way to choose which colleges to go for are to consider:

#1. The Cost.
#2. Quality of programs. [Typically, the ratings of the professors and classwork provided in a department can help you gauge if the major is good/okay/bad.]
#3. Campus Resources. Academic support, resources for students of different backgrounds, etc.
#4. Life on Campus. Depending on whether you live on-campus or off-campus... you may want to know what's available in the area. What clubs, food, stores, recreation spots are on or near campus?
#5. Distance from Home.

There's more factors to consider before choosing a college, but these five things are important.

The ranking of a school could influence your decision, but college rankings aren't the main thing to focus on.
Focus on whether the school fits you and your future goals.

Sending you good luck as you pick colleges :)
