Melissa’s Answer

My second favorite answer in sales is "no"! Even if you do everything right, you will still lose some opportunities. What's most important is being consistent with the right behaviors. If you put effort in every day and prioritize learning from books, mentors, and your own experience it's a winning formula. Any sales role is all about attitude and effort. If you are willing to put in the hard work, then the results will typically follow! Also, don't be afraid to fail! I've learned the most from some of my biggest mistakes in sales... the good news is there's always more fish in the sea. Embrace a gritty mentality and keep going!

Bart’s Answer

Hi Zaire, great question! I think it's important to understand early on in your sales career and also early on in any sales conversation, that the ideal outcome of that conversation can be a no. If the product (in this case house) does not match with the customer (buyer) that is okay and surely another buyer will come along. This attitude should help you put yourself in the customer's shoes and therefore be able to help the customer see why the house would be right for them, or not. Good luck!

Lynn’s Answer

If you want to be in sales, it's important to understand that you don't "close" every sale. Some people will say yes and some people will say no. If you've done everything you were expected to do and the client says "no", then you accept that and move on to the next sale.

People make decisions for a wide variety of reasons and you can' always control those reasons. Review what you did during the sales process, see if there is any part of your actions that you can improve and do it "better" the next time.

Don't beat your self up.

Sales can be very frustrating and very rewarding. Be prepared for the frustration so you can better enjoy the rewards

Lynn recommends the following next steps:

Read some books or internet articles about sales techniques and see if you'd be comfortable with them. There are tons of different techniques so be sure to check out more than one.
