What kind of education do you need to work with zoo animals?
I want to be able to work with wild animals like big cats, monkeys, unique birds, etc.
Do you need to do any specific training or extra schooling to do so, or do you jump right into hands on training?

Hi Jennah,
Most zoos when looking to hire a new keeper are looking for some type degree in biology, environmental science or animal management. There are several institutions that offer degrees specifically designed for someone looking to work in the zoo industry. While working on your degree get as much hands on experience as you can. You might have to be creative in finding opportunities, but they are out there. Working for a vet or volunteering for an animal shelter are places to start. Also look at nature centers and museums that have live animal displays. There can be quite a bit of competition for entry level positions, so having the hands-on experience as well as your degree can help set you apart from other candidates.
Good luck
