Absolutely! Taping is just one of the many exciting skills you'll have the opportunity to practice and perfect. Alongside taping, you'll explore modalities like icing and their proper application for various injuries and situations. Your learning journey will also include electrical stimulation, ultrasound, laser, phonophoresis, iontophoresis, and cold and hot whirlpools, among others.
You'll become a master of numerous taping techniques for virtually every body part, and experiment with different types of tape to find what works best for you. In addition, you'll delve into various massage techniques and joint mobilization, further expanding your skillset.
As you continue to learn, you'll discover a wealth of special tests, covering the entire body, which you'll practice and internalize. Not only will you focus on orthopedic knowledge, but also non-orthopedic illnesses that may come your way throughout your career. Nutrition, especially for athletes, will become an area of expertise for you, together with physical therapy and return-to-sport protocols.
During your studies, you'll partner with a Certified Athletic Trainer, who will guide and mentor you with invaluable information and confidence-building strategies for handling diverse situations. Additionally, you'll likely have the chance to participate in an offsite clinical at a hospital or high school, where you'll learn from a preceptor in a real-world setting.
While the amount of knowledge and skills to acquire may appear daunting at first, remember that your program and support network are designed to help you succeed. So, embrace the challenge and trust that you're on the path to becoming a highly competent and successful Athletic Trainer! Keep going, and you'll achieve greatness!
