What's your advice for law school?
My name is Rayana and I'm a 10th grader. I want to be a lawyer, preferably a criminal defense lawyer.

During my high school years, I would often spend time at the local courthouse, observing the proceedings to get a sense of the job. But remember, that's just one highly noticeable part of the profession :) The bulk of your work as an attorney, even in Criminal Defense, will involve a lot of reading and writing. So, it's crucial to hone these skills. Law school also places a high value on excellent written and verbal communication abilities. As for advice on law school, I'd stress that "every subject matters". Therefore, ensure you dedicate your utmost attention and effort to each one.

Hi Rayana,
The main advice for law school is to try your best to learn the material. There are a lot of laws and cases you need to study. I feel knowing the defenses is not too difficult as they are very much easy to learn with each of the infractions. In 10th grade you should try to do some extracurricular activities such as volunteering and internships as well as summer jobs, You may land a job in the legal field. You could also try to shadow a police officer or attorney as their input into criminal laws would be helpful.
