Nursing is a good career field, but dont stop at CNA. That is entry level and you should consider getting as much training as possible while at the Job Corps either through college level training or transferring another Job Corps center for advanced training once you complete the basics. The next level in medical training will most likely be LPN/LVN. I cant speak to the specifics of your center currently not having a CNA instructor. Maybe the CPP or OA counselor can tell you what they are doing in the meantime for those students or if they expect to hire someone soon. Usually they will have substitute instructors. Either way good luck and get as much training as you can while at the Job Corps. The more you get the better chances at success you will have once you graduate. It does appear your campus does offer college training. Here is the info I found about it. You could potentially complete two years of college before you graduate. You could be a RN (Registered Nurse) by that point! They get paid very well.

Keep learning and training. Our Advanced Career Training (ACT) is an advanced college-level program. Students in ACT get to continue living on campus while taking courses for a college degree. To qualify for the ACT program, you must have:

A high school diploma or the equivalent
Completed at least one level of Job Corps career technical training
Recommendations from career technical training instructors and center staff
No major disciplinary issues within 60 days of applying
Above-average evaluation scores

To of my children went to job corps, one went into military, and the other is currently a office manager. I am not going to lie to you, nursing is a joy to do. Helping people and babies get better is the best feeling in the world. I work with very sick premature babies. The family interactions is amazing and rewarding. There is no better feeling then seeing the angels walk out door with family. There are drawbacks. Nursing is stressful emotionally, mentally and physically. It can be heart breaking when patients do poorly or even die. You are by the parents, supporting each other. I think how unfair is life, that they did not get to take baby home. Some nurses become jaded. Then there are the interpersonal relationships with primary female staff. Bullying, backbiteing and cliques make for toxic work environment. Poor staffing makes you job more difficult. Lack of support from management also makes it a difficult work environment.

I would never change my decision to become a nurse in 1990. I recommend as stated above go for 2 year degree in nursing and become a registered nurse (RN). The possibility are endless, and you will not have student loans.

Best of luck. ME

It can be challenging if this is the field you get into. You should learn what specific field you would like to do but you always start low and work your way up. It can be very enjoyable. Just never give up on your dream. If you wanna help people there is a happiness to it but there is also a sadness to this field. I hope this helps.
