What are the pros and cons of being a sports medicine physician ?

Im Nyla Age 18

Thank you comment icon Hello there, i do not know what the pros and cons of being a sports medicine doctor are. It is a specialty though and will involve specialized skills. The best thing to do is ask for an informational interview with someone in this field so you can ask all your questions and have them answered to the best of that person's ability. If this is your dream, go for it!! Sincerely, Si'van Renea Gott

Hello Nyla!

Sports Medicine Physicians are essentially health care workers with knowledge in the musculoskeletal system.

They require a few years after undergraduate school to become professionals, and may work outside of a 9-5 Monday to Friday week schedule.

If you enjoy helping people prevent injuries, forming athletic programs, and having a variety of places/people to work with, you might enjoy being a physician!

If you don't like the idea of working on the call to support someone at unexpected times, or spending extra years in school after your Bachelors (instead of 4 years, you'd need to do between 10-14 years), then you might not enjoy being one.
