Hello there! Starting your data journey with mastering Excel and Google Sheets is a fantastic first step. As you polish these skills, you'll find it beneficial to learn SQL code writing, a crucial tool in the data world. Another key skill to grasp is data storytelling. Knowing when to use a line chart, bar chart, or other visual aids is vital in the data analytics field. Google Slides is a great tool to aid you in this storytelling process. There are also multiple software programs, such as Tableau, that can help you visualize the data and weave compelling stories. Here's wishing you the best on this exciting journey!

A bachelor's degree in a related field like statistics, computer science, or mathematics is required to become a data analyst. Obtaining a bachelor's degree can take around four years of full-time study. However, learning the necessary skills through self-study or a boot camp-style program is also possible. As data collection, management and analysis and technology advances, many employers are in search of candidates with master's degrees.

Hi Ashley! This is a great question, in order to get a good blend of data and business I would recommend looking into an undergraduate degree in Information Systems, and a Master's in Business Administration. You can even pursue business first then a data focused degree in a Masters Program specializing in (MSBA) which is Master's of Science in Business Analytics or MSQE which is Master's of Science in Quantitative Economics. There is various ways you can go about pursuing this career path! For example, my undergraduate degree was focused on Business with a concentration in Real Estate Finance and now I'm in a Master's Program pursuing my MBA with a certificate in Business Analytics! Just know whatever path you decide to take, take it one day at a time and enjoy the process!

I suggest learning two essential skills: SQL (programming) and a reporting tool like Microsoft Power BI or Tableau. These widely-used abilities can provide an excellent entry point into the field. Once you master these skills, you'll find it simpler to grasp additional ideas, programming languages, and reporting and analytics tools.
