Lauren’s Answer

If you already have a part-time job, use it as a reference for how you would want to move forward professionally. Do you want more responsibilities or opportunities to learn? If it's just a job, you can still find ways to learn from the experience how you would want to navigate yourself in the real world once you're in college.
If no job, volunteering opportunities are just a Google search away.
I volunteered through my church. I also helped at a Women's shelter doing whatever tasks they gave me (sanitizing donated items, babysitting, answered the phones, etc.).
I also volunteered at the daycare I used to attend and that actually turned into a paid job.
You never know what's out there until you look.

Necol’s Answer

Find an internship or volunteer opportunity in your community that is in the career area that you are interested in. You'll discover if it's twittering the path for you and you'll show potential colleges that you've investigated your major and stick with it. If your field isn't offered find something close and dedicate at least 2 hours a week to it.
