Music was the one activity that I truly felt like I had a place and I felt at home. I chose music production because of my high school choir teacher funny enough. He did a unit where we recorded ourselves singing one of our pieces and we "remixed" it. Mine was absolutely terrible but I never stopped writing music and creating and now I'm a music major, audio engineer, and music producer. If you enjoy music, you will always have a place in the community career or not- that's the special thing about this industry. If you want a music career, I say do it!

I saw people around me playing the piano and other instruments as a two year old and couldn't wait to learn to play something myself. I've been playing instruments since I was four years old and I was always willing to play to help people out at church or wherever, so that by the time I was a teenager I had people asking me to teach their kids to play my instruments and to help play for choirs and soloists, and I have just been being paid to make music since.

Cate’s Answer
I started my career in the music industry based on both a passion for music in general and an internship that showed me I could make it a career. I started on the booking and management side of the industry, which then led me into handling accounting for tours of all sizes. Jobs in the music industry come in all shapes and sizes. What made me successful was understanding what the client needed and keeping that servant leadership mentality.
