What should do for my interest in neuroscience while in high school?
I was thinking of creating a neuroscience club out side of school, but I'm not sure how to go about that. I'm about to volunteer at a hospital, and hold neuroscience sessions to learn/ teach about neuroscience. What are some things I can do to increase my knowledge and put on an application. Finance wise I'm limited.

Greetings Rhyian,

Above is an example of what you may look for or ask about in your area. Look to your local colleges and universities. The one above is in CA, but do a little googling for your area. https://www.unr.edu/neuroscience. There is a school in Reno. You can contact them to see if they have a program like the one in CA. If not, you showing interest may have them start one. Lastly, there is the USA National BRAIN Bee Championship.
Look into these and other offerings, and talk with your guidance counselors or teachers in the science department. Show your interest and others may pick up and show you some direction.
Sincerest regards for your future endeavors.

See if you can volunteer in hospital that has a program in this.get in touch with any organizations that funds or staffs personnel.seems like you are going in right direction. If funds are limited and scholarships are not available appply for low level job in programs you are interested in. Get your foot in the door. Also see as you progress where you want this to take you.what exactly do you want to study?
I got my first job after doing practicum in hospital(unpaid) but it taught me what my job would be. And I was prepared when job opened up.

Hi Rhyian!
It's so great that you're interested in neuroscience! It's a really fascinating field and there's so much to learn. Creating a club is a great idea! It would be worthwhile to speak to a biology teacher at your school and express your interest in neuroscience and hopefully he can help you sponsor a club. Other than that, on your own time you could take a look at some research articles regarding the current research being done in the neurosciecne industry. There you could find out what about the field interests you and you could potentially summarize and present some of these research articles at your hospital volunteering program.
Cheers,
Ria
