With cybersecurity, understanding the 'what and how' is crucial when applying to jobs and interviewing. You will stand out, especially as a freshman if you showcase the foundational knowledge including what is CIA (confidentiality, integrity, availability), what are some common attacks (password spray attack, command injection, etc.), how can an organization fully comply with benchmarks?
In cybersecurity, your foundational knowledge is AS IMPORTANT as your technical aptitude. If you know what malware is but don't understand how an adversary can inject it in various ways, do some studying/research. You never know what the employer might ask you.

Thank you so much for clarifying

During high school, did you study computer languages like C, Java, or Python? Are you skilled in these languages? Employers may require a coding test with a time limit to solve specific problems. What makes you an exceptional candidate for a cybersecurity internship?
As a college freshman, having a background in relevant subjects and a strong GPA can set you apart from others. However, passing the employer's test is crucial for securing the internship.
