To become a Medical Doctor in the USA, you need to:
Graduate high school or get a G.E.D. (I think they renamed this, but I'm not sure what it's called now)
Graduate college with a bachelors degree (usually 4 years)
Go to Medical school (usually 4 years).
Once you graduate, you are a doctor. However, I don't believe you can practice medicine until you complete your residency and/or fellowship. These are done under the supervision of a fully licensed doctor. And then at some point, you have to take the boards for your specialty.
