To obtain an engineering degree, consider computer, mechanical, or electrical fields. For coding, AI, or software development enthusiasts, explore computer, electrical, or data science/stats degrees. Alternatively, affordable data science bootcamps, like https://flatironschool.com/courses/data-science-bootcamp/, are available without attending school.
For traditional engineering, such as designing cars or rocket ships, mechanical or electrical engineering is recommended. As a chemical engineer in aerospace, I observed that most engineers on our team specialized in mechanical engineering. Focus on design engineering jobs for enjoyable and creative work.

It's important to think about which subjects you enjoy at school. Math is essential, but ask yourself if you truly enjoy Chemistry, or if you'd prefer programming. Do you have fun building things? Aim to discover something you genuinely love and explore that area.

Engineering careers can offer a stable and good income, and they provide many different ways to use all of your skills - technical, written and verbal communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, etc. To decide which discipline to study, ask yourself "what am I interested in and what do I like to do in my free time?" I liked to tinker with mechanical systems when I was young - fixing bicycles, dirt bikes, cars, etc. so a mechanical engineering path is what attracted me. Do you like to code, like chemistry, like working with electronics? If one of these, I would encourage you to further look into what software engineers, chemical engineers, electrical engineers do on a daily basis. If you are interested in what Mark Rober does, then I would investigate mechanical engineering. Focus on topics like math, physics, chemistry, etc. in school and whenever you can, participate in activities that let you "try out" engineering. For example, can you participate in a local First Robotics league? Can you attend a summer camp focused on science and engineering? Are there school-related activities that you can get involved with? You'll have to do some homework to find the right activities but the more that you can get involved in opportunities to experience what you might do as an engineer the better you will be able to shape your decision before you need to choose! Remember that when you go to work you will be there for 40+ hours of your week for the rest of your life. The earlier you can gain an understanding of what you truly enjoy doing, the better you can align your career with who you are.

Thank you for your question. I am glad to hear that you would like to be an engineer. You are correct that there are many different engineering streams and each of these streams have the own knowledge domain. E.g. Electrical & Electronic Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Civil Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Computer Engineer, etc.
Below are my suggestions :
1. Find out more on these engineer streams
2. Speak to someone who are working in these engineering careers
3. Attend the information session held by the engineering faculty of the college. Speak to professors of different engineer streams
4. Seek guidance from from your mentor, your school career counsellor, your parents, etc.
Hope this can help you to find out which one you have interest! Good Luck!
