Hi Miranda! A lot of people will offer a service or items in exchange for a donation. For example, you could offer to clean cars for a donation, bake goods for a donation or offer something that you are good at. You can try to sell clothes or items online on Mercari or Poshmark. You can look into part-time jobs- babysitting, pet sitting, dog walking, etc. I would talk to your church and ask them if they can do anything to help. My church when I did mission trips would usually put on a car wash or some sort of event to help us raise money to go.
I wish you the best of luck!

Hey Miranda,
When I was in high school looking to get donations for a club to go on a trip, we decided it would be a good idea to put on an event for the community in a local park. At this event, we had many carnival-like games, face painting and raffles where gracious donors (family, friends and community members) could come out and experience. However, the biggest way we profited on the event was by going into our local town and knocking on all of the store's doors and asking if they wanted to be sponsors of the event. This of course came with a lot of rejection, but many of the local stores were actually looking to help out small groups like ours by donating money or raffle baskets. This along with the above advice should get you the funds as well as making an impact in the community with the event.

Hi Miranda,
Great question and I went on a service trip in high school too and had to raise a bunch of money to get to Africa.
Here's a few things you can do:
- Offer your services to neighbors, friends, family, etc. Cleanup their yard, clean the pool, clean the house, run errands, and charge a small fee to help them out with easy things you can do for them.
- Make and sell something. If you're crafty or able to create something small and easy to make lots of, make it and start selling it where you can.
- Simply ask friends/family for a donation to help you reach this goal. Make sure you explain to them where the money is going and what benefits you'll get from the trip. Even if they can only chip in $20, if you get enough people, you can probably get there!
- I'm not sure how much time you have but look into a summer job. Work at a summer camp, local pool, arts/crafts festivals. Anything you can do even for a few weeks can help you reach your goal.
Good luck!
