A good way to get your foot in the door is to enter a state or local pageant. This is a way to get some training as well as be out in public on stage. Often times modeling scouts search for models through the pageant industry. Sometime pageant even give modeling contracts as prizes. Keep your eyes open beware of scams!!!

Hello, Roisin ! This should not be difficult since you have the internet at your finger tips. I have a lot to say, though, so maybe it will guide you in the right direction.
Foremost, you need expereince. See if you and your friends can organize a runway type fashion show at a church, school, etc. Always have photos taken at these shows. Secondly, to find the agencies, search "Modeling Agencies in Whatever Town". Some suburban areas have agencies but the big ones are all in major cities like Chicago, Las Vegas, Nashville and I don't think I have to mention New York City or Los Angeles because you probably know that already.
I know someone who has a You Tube channel on which she models clothing. That may be a good idea to showcase yourself as a model so you'd have something to show to agents. But if you seek out various theatres, ad agencies and studios in or around your area, they just may know of who is hiring models. Don't hesitate to be a self-starter, though, if you cannot travel or relocate.
A roundabout way that you might put yourself out there is through Actor's Acces. Even though it says "actors", when you complete an application there on line, there is a portion on which they ask your specific talents. Click "Modeling" . This website is seen in large and small markets, so it may be worth it to have a listing there. You can select only Modeling or click any other talents you have.
Becoming a model is a process, conditonal and the best foundation is to obtain experience and tangible materials such as photos showing your styles and range, different hair styles and make up and make a private website for yourself showing your photos and videos. You'll want to show a variety of looks. It's very competitive in small and large markets, but just know that one day, someone will be hiring for "your look".
Also go to Model Management, a website where they address small town modeling agencies and have links that you can use for Independent Model Agencies and other categories.
Best wishes and I encorage you to move forward on this exciting venture !

Getting started in modeling, especially in areas with fewer agencies, can be challenging, but it's still possible. Here are some tips to help you kickstart your modeling career:
1. **Build Your Portfolio**:
- Start by creating a portfolio of high-quality photographs. These photos should showcase your versatility as a model. You can collaborate with local photographers or even friends with good camera skills.
2. **Online Presence**:
- Create a strong online presence by setting up profiles on modeling websites and social media platforms like Instagram. Use these platforms to display your portfolio and engage with potential clients and photographers.
3. **Research Local Opportunities**:
- Look for local fashion shows, events, or photography workshops where models are needed. Participating in these events can help you gain experience and make connections.
4. **Contact Local Photographers**:
- Reach out to local photographers and offer your services as a model. Many photographers are willing to work with aspiring models to build their portfolios.
5. **Network**:
- Attend local fashion and networking events. These gatherings can be a great opportunity to meet photographers, makeup artists, and other industry professionals who might help you get started.
6. **Online Casting Calls**:
- Keep an eye out for online casting calls on websites and social media. Many opportunities for freelance models are advertised online.
7. **Modeling Schools and Workshops**:
- If there are no modeling agencies in your area, consider enrolling in modeling schools or workshops. These can provide valuable training and industry insights.
8. **Travel for Opportunities**:
- If it's feasible for you, consider traveling to nearby cities or regions with more modeling opportunities. Sometimes, you may need to go where the industry is more active.
9. **Self-Representation**:
- If you're having difficulty finding an agency, you may need to start as a freelance or independent model. This means handling your own bookings, contracts, and marketing.
10. **Online Portfolio**:
- Create a professional website or online portfolio that showcases your best work and provides contact information for potential clients or photographers.
11. **Stay In Shape and Practice**:
- Maintain a healthy lifestyle and practice different poses and expressions in front of a mirror. This will help you become a more versatile model.
12. **Patience and Persistence**:
- The modeling industry can be highly competitive and challenging, so be patient and persistent. Rejection is a part of the process, and success may take time.
Remember to prioritize your safety when connecting with photographers or individuals online. Always meet in public places for initial meetings and photo shoots, and consider bringing a friend or family member with you. Building a modeling career takes time, effort, and perseverance, so stay committed to your goals and keep working on your craft.

Hi Roisin,
Alisa gave a great general answer without knowing where in the country you're located. When you get a chance, google modeling agencies near you. Make sure to check reviews as well as their website. There are quite a few prominent agencies that you'll be able to find out about online like Ford. Another thing you can do is check the websites of your favorite stores to shop and determine how to start modeling for them. If there are any fashion models you follow on social media (actual models, not just the Instagram ones), check their page to determine if they have their agencies listed as well. Let your parents know so they can guide and help you through the process. Hopefully this general information can help you and good luck on your journey!

If you have the ability to travel to a larger city in your state (or within driving distance), you can look into agencies located in that city. Try to do as much research as you can on the agency, such as reading reviews. Have a parent or other adult be part of this process with you, including going with you to any in-person meetings. There are many modeling scams out there, and many opportunities may not be transparent about what you're modeling for. Be sure to research the do's and don'ts of this process and the red flags.
