It’s important to some companies that their hires have a degree. If it’s important to you because you want to learn something specific, that’s a good reason.
However, college isn’t for everyone. These days it’s so expensive and puts you on debt for years.

There are many benefits to going to college, even beyond the education provided in the classroom. It provides opportunity for networking, including meeting peers working toward a career that could become resources later down the road even after college. Colleges often also have job fairs and can provide ample opportunity and accessibility to internships prior to graduation that help guide and inform your career decisions down the road by helping you decide what type of career would be best for you.

Hi, Ally, That is a good question - because it opens the window to discuss what is important to you As worded, it has an implication toward income - and that prompts me to suggest that you consider a different question for yourself, that being "What is important to me in this life?" The question as asked focuses on income, whereas the second question focuses on whatever gives you enjoyment in this life. This difference is priceless for you, because I know several plumbers who earn hefty six-figure salaries and never work overtime and feel a sense of achievement every day, and I also know many college graduates who work six days a week, are miserable in their jobs, and earn less than the plumber. The answer to your question can only be done if what you want in life can have stepping stones toward it built at college. Otherwise, college is a waste of money and time. Having written all of this, college does have one special value that is often overlooked; it helps you become a more interesting and enlightened adult - that is because it subjects you to a variety of ideas and specialties and is a closed social community that forces you to become involved. Okay, I confess that I did not answer your question, but I do hope I opened a door to consider. All the best to you.

Why is it beneficial to go to college?
The reason most people go to college is to network. People whom you meet become a part of your network and may potentially recommend you for positions that engage in your interests/what you studied. Another reason why people go to college is to explore what they are passionate about. Some people are passionate about the arts, business, education, changing the world. We pursue higher learning to improve ourselves and the world around us (I know it sounds cheesy, but it is true).
Hey, sometimes you don't need to go to college to find out what you are passionate about. It depends on who you are as a person and how you are able to capitalize on it and make a career out of it.
