I understand you, there are many situations that can cause us anxiety, I ask you to first breathe and concentrate on some breathing technique that suits you, there are many!! please dedicate some time and investigate, I also advise you to imagine that you are drinking lemon or orange juice, this will help you generate saliva, this exercise sends signals to your system informing you that everything is fine! so swallow saliva to let your body know that you are not in danger.
I also invite you to look back and remember all the anxious situations you have faced and how you got to where you are now, you can !!!!!

Finding a job and going through interviews can be nerve-wracking, and it's completely normal to feel anxious (I know I do). One helpful tip I use is to pretend that I'm a pro in the field and that I've been invited to share my expertise in a talk or interview. Just picturing this can help you relax and adopt a "fake it till you make it" mindset. More often than not, you'll end up succeeding or at least gaining more confidence. I also recommend combining this technique with other suggestions shared here, like the ones from Danusa, as I've learned a lot from them too.

It's common to feel anxious about getting a job, especially if it's your first one. To help you manage your anxiety and increase your confidence as you search for and apply to jobs you could start with small steps like begin by exploring job opportunities that align with your interests and skills. Starting small can help build your confidence gradually!
Take the time to research the companies or industries you are interested in. Learn about their values, work environment, and job requirements. Being well-prepared can boost your confidence during interviews and make you feel more comfortable in the application process.
Create a resume that highlights your skills, experiences, and achievements. Include any volunteer work, extracurricular activities, or relevant coursework. Tailor your resume for each job application to showcase how your skills align with the job requirements. This last is really important!
Remember that finding a job is a process, and it's normal to experience setbacks or rejections along the way. Stay persistent, learn from each experience, and keep moving forward. Each step you take is a valuable learning opportunity.
I hope this helps!

This is an excellent question, and I'm happy that you had the courage to ask it. It's important to remember that many people feel nervous when searching for jobs, so you're not alone in experiencing this emotion. Being aware that others share your feelings can help lessen the stress. To boost your confidence and sense of control in finding a job, consider these tips:
1. Keep in mind that it might take several attempts before discovering the perfect job for you. Don't be disheartened if you don't find the right position immediately.
2. Instead of dwelling on factors beyond your control, focus on aspects you can manage. Use these to narrow down your options to a more manageable list. For example, consider your availability due to school and family commitments or transportation constraints. A shorter list makes it easier to learn about each job opportunity and open position.
3. Researching job expectations and considering how a position might suit you can increase your comfort level when applying and interviewing for jobs.
4. If possible, visit a workplace beforehand to observe the type of work being done. This can give you a better understanding of the jobs being advertised.
5. Talk to friends or family members who may already work for businesses that are hiring. Ask about their work environment, pace, and feedback they receive. This additional information can further enhance your comfort level when trying out a new job.
I hope these suggestions help alleviate some of your anxiety and empower you to take the next step in your job search. Good luck!

Hi,
As someone with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, I definitely know the experience of feeling anxious around getting a job. It's not an irrational feeling -- the market is kinda tough these days. I think something that helps with working through this is reflecting on the particular strengths that you have as a person. If you have a journal or if you want to pull up the notes app on your phone, start writing down answers to these questions:
1) What subjects, interpersonal skills, learning capacities [I recommend taking this quiz: https://learningstylequiz.com/quiz/start ] am I strong in? (ex. I'm pretty good at interacting with new people, I'm also a good listener, and I'm kinesthetic learner, so I can commit things to habit really fast)
2) What are the jobs I'm interested in, and how can I apply these skills in those workplaces?
Hope this helps to break down some of the areas you might feel a little nervous about. Again, it's very normal to feel unsure about your first job! But I think once you really solidify a strong sense of who you are and what you value, people will be more than happy to have you around :)
