What’s something I could do to help get into Vet school?
I want to complete my pre-vet classes and continue to go to vet school and get my DVM license, but was wondering if there was anything I could do to better chances.

So excelling in your pre-vet classes is certainly a must in order to qualify for vet school! However, it is also important to be a well-rounded individual in order to be considered a candidate. This includes other courses and extra curricular activities. What is also critical is to get some real world experience in the veterinary profession which can be done with volunteering, shadowing and also any job opportunities that are available to a pre-vet student. There are many areas that veterinarians are involved with so dip your toes in and see what might interest you.

Hey, that's an excellent question! I'm also in healthcare, and getting into vet school can be quite challenging. Here are some steps that I believe will be helpful for you:
* Prioritize your studies and excel in pre-veterinary coursework.
* Obtain hands-on experience by volunteering or working at veterinary clinics or animal shelters.
* Observe experienced veterinarians in action to learn from their work and gain insights into the profession. (You can find opportunities for shadowing through Facebook groups or other social media platforms.)
* Enhance your animal handling skills by working with various species.
* Participate in volunteer and leadership activities related to animal welfare or veterinary medicine. (Being in healthcare, you should be ready to tackle problems independently.)
* Pursue research opportunities in veterinary medicine, if possible.
* Foster relationships with professors, veterinarians, and mentors who can provide strong letters of recommendation.
* Get ready for the GRE, as it's typically required by veterinary schools.
* Write an impressive personal statement that showcases your motivation and unique experiences.
* Stay informed and engaged by attending conferences and keeping up with the latest developments in the veterinary field.
Start preparing early and submit a well-rounded application that highlights your academic abilities, practical experience, and enthusiasm for veterinary medicine. Best of luck! You've got this!
