I was wondering if there are any tips for balancing my regular life and school ?

Hey there, I’m still in high school but in the next year I will be a rising college freshman! I’m looking into IT, or Architecture. But going to college feels stressful to me.

Hi Beni!

This is a great question! I can honestly say that it can be pretty stressful sometimes. Especially, when you are transitioning and starting to be on your own, whether that be in a full time or career, or in your case going to college. One thing that I will say, is that balancing my education and free time was a hassle in the beginning when I was attending college. You are on your own, no one is there to direct you when you should complete your studies and homework, and you are fending for yourself when it comes to managing what you eat and the activities that you participate in.

However, after finding my group of friends that I still know and love to this day, it was easier to gain a balance on my extracurricular activities, as well complete my studies. We would all study together, help each other learn certain topics for quizzes and tests, and afterwards, would spend some quality time with each other just relaxing and hanging out. On top of this, it is up to you be in charge of your balanced life. Friends can do only a certain amount, the rest is on you. To assist with this, I had a planner to help me organize when I was doing what. This helped as I color-coded different activities, and where and whom they were going to be with. Additionally, it helped me to prepare when to complete homework and studies for which days of the week, in order to be prepared for the future as well as relinquish some of the stress that would have been evident if my planner had not been made.

I hope this helped and thank you!

COLLEGE-LIFE HARMONY

College can be challenging, but remember that most institutions, including online ones, provide a support network. Don't hesitate to seek help during tough times. Additionally, it's crucial to maintain a well-organized schedule, arrange your notes effectively, and create two priority lists (one for essential tasks and another for optional ones). Focus on completing the tasks with deadlines and cutoff dates from the essential list.

Keep in mind that if you have taken part-time classes, it might take longer to finish, but you'll likely achieve better grades with less stress. Recall the tale of the tortoise and the hare – sometimes, a slower pace leads to more successful results. If you ever receive a failing grade, don't be disheartened. These grades serve as learning opportunities, showing us where to improve and grow stronger.
