I think Barbara King nailed it!
One thing I have heard a lot from employers (beyond these skills) includes being accountable for your actions/behavior/language, and the understanding that you work as part of a team--your coworkers depend on you to be timely, ask for help when you need it, lend a hand without being asked, don't talk behind others' backs, etc. If you have a problem with someone, talk to them directly and explain the impact the issue has on you/other staff/patients. Another skill to have is an ability to recognize your own stress/personal health and take appropriate measures to care for yourself. If you can't do this, you will risk burnout and compassion fatigue, so know what you need to stay healthy physically and emotionally!
Understand your emotional IQ (there are good books out about this!)
Perhaps volunteer at a hospital or find work as a nurse's aide to get an idea of what a nurse's day looks like
Think about why you want to go into nursing and try to match that up with the reality of a nurse's job
