Hi Kindrell,
It all depends on what process you are doing and also if you are talking about starting up your own welding business or just to welding stuff in your garage. If you're looking to purchase a small welder for your garage it can range from $300-$2,000. If you are looking to start up a welding business it can range from $5,000-$100,000

Hi, depends on where you purchase and what you are looking for. I recommend Miller Welding Equipment but Harbor Freight also carries welding equipment. So if you are looking for good but cheap equipment it might run you around 4500.00 or so. This would get you an arc welder equipped with everything you'd need to get going; a MIG welder; lastly a TIG welder.
But before you run out an get all this gear I'd recommend you get a good pair of of cotton, wool pants, wool or cotton shirt, steel toed work boots, good pair of welding gloves and good pair of light weight gloves, lastly a pair of safety glasses (not tinted). Once you are so "geared up" go knock on welding company doors and ask if you could be an intern, basic laborer, whatever and could they teach you to weld.
Good luck. John

Here are some rough estimates of the cost of equipment for different types of welding
1. Stick Welding: You can expect to pay between $200 to $1,000 for a basic stick welding setup, including the welding machine, electrodes, and safety gear.
2. MIG Welding: A basic MIG welding setup can cost between $300 to $1,500, including the welding machine, welding wire, gas regulator, and safety gear.
3. TIG Welding: A basic TIG welding setup can cost between $500 to $2,500, including the welding machine, tungsten electrodes, filler rod, gas regulator, and safety gear.
It's always a good idea to do some research, compare prices, and choose the right equipment for your budget and needs.

Welding can be taught in classes or as an OJT individual. Depends on how you feel. OJT is going to take a lot of knocking on doors.
Good luck. John
