One of the biggest ways to make your resume stick out is by studying the job you are applying for and modifying key parts of the resume to better reflect what you can do. For example, if you are interested in a job that is based on experience with teaching and you were a volunteer at a summer camp, place that at the top of your work experience and add emphasis on things like what age group you taught, what size of group did you handle, etc. Show you have experience with the job before you have the job.
Your "three years of experience" are any three years you handled the aspect of the job, not three years of doing the job itself.

Hello, I would set up the resume with highlights outlining your goal for the job search followed by the skills you obtained during your 2 year in FBLA. I would insert jobs worked (fast food, retail etc) but list my duties as it applies to the strengths gained that will add to the position I will to obtain. Example: Would be something inclusive of skills gained working on a team. Someone could help you structure that properly. The layout design of the page. My resume has my logo in the background as a watermark and I have a color scheme as a designer. I have been told over the years that it was unique and unlike other layouts which made them pick it up. Structure your layout, do some research on what you want to do, and then place your spin on it. There is no real wrong way to do it but it needs to align with your experience level. I hope that helps.

I recommend having two resumes. One set up for ATS systems. Applicant Tracking Systems are used by companies and HR departments to weed out candidates. They are automated computer systems that search for keywords and can’t read graphic resumes. Stick to a one column word document and use as many keywords from the job post as you can in the resume. Each ATS resume should be custom to the job you are applying for. Research the company and use info from their website. You can include keywords from their mission or vision statement. Try to connect with someone from the company through LinkedIn. Your chances of getting through to an interview will increase if you have a contact at the company that is willing to refer you. Note: people want to help you. Send them a personalized LinkedIn request to connect and mention the position you are looking at and that you’d like to connect and possibly have a short 5-10 min call to get their take on the workplace/company.
Keep your design resume for a leave behind after an interview or where you email a contact direct versus submit a resume through LinkedIn or CareerBuilder or Zip Recruiter etc.
