Edward’s Answer
I chose law for two reasons: I wanted to help people and I wanted to earn enough to support a family.
Both worked out well; I have helped hundreds of people and supported a family of five during my 54 years being a lawyer
My children earned eight college and graduate degrees and never had to borrow one dollar.
They are all successful in their professions (no lawyers!)
Figure out what you want out of life
Figure out what you enjoy doing (if not reading, writing and speaking, consider something other than lawyer)
Talk to lawyers personally to ask your questions

Mackenzie’s Answer
I chose law because I really enjoy writing and being challenged intellectually. There are so many opportunities for creativity and problem solving in law and its challenging but incredibly rewarding. There are so many different kinds of law so you really have to do your research before and during law school to figure out your path. I work for a big law firm doing commercial litigation - representing and defending a lot of big companies that are involved in a breach of contract issue or the like. I am very happy but it is a very demanding job - I work anywhere from 40 to 80 hours in a week. THat's definitely something to take into account. Let me know if you have any other questions!
