Another great way to get hands-on experience producing film and video stories is to become a member of a community media organization. Many communities around the U.S. have community media production facilities often tied to the local cable system. Training, access to field and studio equipment are part of these operations. If you want to learn you can volunteer to work on the productions of videos and shows created by others. If and when you are ready to produce your own show you have the equipment, knowledge and people to help you tell your story. That is how I got experience and made connections when I started my career as a videographer.
Research community media organizations in your town.

Hi Lilliana!
As you know Film is an exciting and growing field. I would start by attending a university that has this specific degree plan. I know most universities have this degree since I attended a small private university and they offered film as an undergrad degree. While obtaining your degree I would do your best to network in the field and see if your university has any connections with companies to let you intern for the summer. This is one of the best ways to not only grow your network but by interning you will learn valuables insights into the film industry.
One of my best friends is in the film industry and when people ask what it takes he says the same two things "Hard Work and Don't Quit" It may be hard not to compromise on your dreams/visions for what you want to write but I would encourage you not to! Keep writing what interest you and what you are passionate about. I know Peter Jackson went to every major studio in Hollywood for years before he received a yes on making Lord of the Rings. He did not compromise on his vison and did not give up. It probably won't be easy but most things in life that are worth having aren't easy.
I would highly suggest reading the book below. It has helped keep my dreams alive! Good luck on the journey!

You're in New York, the city of dreams! Remember, in today's world, your location doesn't limit your potential! If acting is your calling, collaborate with photographer friends for headshots and register on platforms like Actors Access, LA Casting, and Backstage. There are numerous reliable filmmaker meetup groups too. I initiated a wonderful filmmaking community in Wisconsin following the same path! Enlighten yourself with books like The Secrets of Screen Acting, TV's Golden Age, Directing Actors, and Michael Cain's: In Acting Film.
If you're inclined towards filmmaking, consider starting as a PA (production assistant) on a set! You can find such opportunities on websites like LinkedIn. There's a wealth of knowledge shared by Youtube vloggers on filmmaking, in case you prefer self-learning over formal education. Remember, it's your journey, pursue what brings you happiness, and the path will unfold itself. Wishing you all the best!
