Hello! I'm an LVT in Michigan and I've been in the veterinary field for about 3 years. I'm not a veterinarian, but I do work under several of them.
It's hard work to be a veterinarian, but there is a very high demand for them right now. Typical veterinarians that work in a general practice see wellness visits (like appointments that are just for vaccine updates) to sick appointments (which can be things like ear infections, severe allergies, UTIs, etc). Veterinarians also perform surgeries, prescribe medication and diagnosis illnesses. However, there are several routes you can go if you wish to be a veterinarian. I know one veterinarian who worked for the FDA for 30 years, she never did surgery or had patients she saw. Some veterinarians work at spay/neuter clinics and only do surgeries, some go to be teachers to future vets/vet techs, some vets are mobile and only see puppies and kittens for their vaccines.
You have to love animals and you have to have good people skills (every pet has at least one owner you're dealing with at every appointment). They pay is not as good as people expect, but you make more if you specialize in an area (like emergency services or exotic animals).
Try to job shadow at a local veterinary clinic so you can meet people in the field and see what their average day is like!

Hi!
I’m not a vet but I have a friend who is a veterinary doctor, she actually enjoy her job because she love animal. It’s depend what do you like it. I’m a cake decorator (pastry chef too) I really enjoy because it’s a lot creativity. Also there is always someone who want to take care about they pet. It’s good $$$. Hopefully this can help you trying my best.
