What online extracurricular activities can I do? I'm from Romania and I want to go to college in the USA. I have 2 more years of high-school.

Hello! I am a 17 years old girl from Romania, starting the 11th grade in September. I love studying languages, astronomy and aerospace engineering. I am not sure what I want to do in college because I dream a lot and I also have lots of dreams!
I speak English, Romanian and Hungarian at a fluent level, I also understand and can speak in Spanish, French and Italian.
I want to do extracurricular activities online because in my town I didn't found anything.
Thank you!!

There might be some differences in what appear in search engines in other countries so please excuse me if shows up differently for you!

I would recommend you look into 2 fields of interest:

1) Volunteering. Schools in the US look positively on students who volunteer. Online volunteering has become more prevalent, especially after COVID. There are plenty of different ways to help out, from helping tutor younger kids, to making cards for seniors, to even helping transcribe material for the Smithsonian. Since your interests astronomy and aerospace engineering, I would think about looking for online volunteering opportunities with museums and science centers (I believe the Smithsonian does have a volunteer section online for astronomy and helping categories objects seen from telescopes!).

2) Music or Sports. Taking an interest in either, or both, can help you seem more well rounded. If you are only online, music might be easier, as you can take courses online after buying an instrument for cheap, or by taking lessons through free courses offered through sites like youtube or skillshare. (don't forget, your voice is an instrument too!). Regarding sports, if only online, e-sports, such as video games can be an option, though it does take a LOT of time and practice; chess is also recognized as an international sport, so building up your ranking as a chessmaster can be an option as well.

These, of course, are in addition to your grades, since as an International student, you will need to have a good equivalent GPA and testing.

Sounds like you have great ambitions and congratulations on all you have already learned and achieved.

For extracurricular activities online, I'd suggest looking at volunteer sites for online activities. You might be able to be a penpal where you send emails to people who are looking to connect with others and share experiences or something similiar.

With every good wish.
