Can I return to first year in college if I decided to shift to a whole different course?

I was a freshman and dropped my subjects midyear in my previous course, finishing only the first semester. Can I return to first year in college if I decided to shift to a whole different course?

Edit: You guys, I did not expect I'd get so much response from here. You have no idea how much your thoughts have cheered me up from the weight I was carrying since the day I decided to post this question. I will carry all of your advice and encouragement in my heart all the way through my graduation march. Thank you, thank you! God bless you all back.

From the bottom of my heart,

Molly’s Answer

Zelandra,

This is a great question! The answer is simply: YES! You can most definitely return to college, even after you decide to switch majors. WhatI would recommend is to step your foot into multiple areas. If you find that what you are currently in or studying does not satisfy and appeal to what you want to do in the future, then you can easily shift away from that one area and focus in another. In college, I knew that I wanted to focus my studies in general business. However, that is all I knew. After focusing my studies in multiple areas of business, I found my way into Human Resources where I currently am working in today. I received my MBA focusing specifically in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources, and currently have a position as an Human Resources Administrator for a Sam's Club distribution and fulfillment center. You will never know what you like until you dip your foot in the water and tread through several areas!

I hope this helped, and good luck in your endeavors!

Thank You
Molly H.

Linto K’s Answer

Absolutely! In many colleges, it is possible to change your course mid year. However, the process and requirements for changing your course may vary depending on the institution and the specific programs involved. Typically, you will need to meet certain academic requirements and apply for a change to your desired program. All the best!

Absolutely! It is never too late to change your major in college if you decide to go to in a different direction. However, I would check with your college administration and academic advisor to understand their specific requirements for course transfer. You will do great, you've got this!

Karli’s Answer

Yes! It is never ever too late, especially while doing your General Ed courses (typically first two years).

I stopped and went back 5 separate times due to life events and changing my mind often.

You got this!

Yes, college doesn't punish one for changing their mind. Do start over and immediately so you can get your life back on track. Do not let that first year slow you down. You learned a lot about yourself and that was priceless. I wish you well.
