Hi Simran!

People often find balance in life by diving into various hobbies or activities that boost their overall happiness. This could be anything from keeping up with friends, pursuing passions, staying active, or focusing on school or work. The number of these activities can differ from person to person, but it's generally a good idea to have a mix to keep life interesting and balanced.

What does it mean to have a balanced life?

Having a balanced life is all about finding harmony in different areas of your life. This means spending time and energy on things like relationships, self-care, work or school, fun activities, and personal growth. A balanced life helps you handle your responsibilities while also making sure you have time to relax and enjoy life.

Does being balanced mean you're automatically happy?

Balance can definitely help with happiness, but it doesn't necessarily guarantee it. Happiness is a personal feeling that can be affected by a lot of things like your genes, what's happening in your life, and your own outlook. But, having balance in different parts of your life can improve your overall well-being and make it more likely that you'll feel happy.

Does balance make you more productive and set you up for the future?

Absolutely! Having balance can lead to being more productive and set you on the right path for the future. When you have a well-rounded life with things like school or work, hobbies, friends, and taking care of your physical and mental health, you're more likely to be successful in what you do. By managing different parts of your life well, you can avoid feeling overwhelmed, stay focused, and make progress towards your big goals.

A balanced lifestyle helps you to:

1. Handle stress: Doing different activities can help you deal with stress better. For example, playing sports or working out can release feel-good hormones and lower stress. Hanging out with friends or family can offer emotional support and ease feelings of worry.

2. Boost your well-being: Balancing different parts of your life improves your overall well-being by meeting different needs. For example, doing hobbies or things you're interested in can make you feel fulfilled and happy. Taking care of your physical health with exercise and good food contributes to feeling energetic and lively.

3. Grow personally: Trying out different activities lets you discover new interests, learn new skills, and see things from different perspectives. This constant learning and personal growth can lead to long-term success and satisfaction.

In conclusion, having balance in life means doing different things or hobbies that boost your overall well-being. While the number of these activities can change, it's important to spend time and energy on things like friendships, passions, staying active, and school or work. A balanced lifestyle can boost productivity, help handle stress, improve well-being, and encourage personal growth.

Hello Simran,

You can balance between your study and your activities with your friends in outside or at home. I would say you can both balance your routines, activities, and study time and track your study; due to the fact that you may need your additional planner or I should say your timetable with to do list.

What you need to do is that you can create your plan with your timetable or on a planner, you can divide into weekday and weekend activities. You can change your timetable from time to time due to suddenly something happened, or it did not work for you. How you can balance your study and activities can be structured with morning, afternoon, noon, evening, and night time / or weekdays on Monday, Tuesday, Wesnesday, Thursday, and Friday (you can add your free time in a day) / a weekly timetable includes your to do list;

Include your routine, activities, and your free time,

Balance with free time and study time

Add your short or long break in your timetable

How you can track your study time is that you should have a to do list, your calendar, and planner and/or timetable. I know it is too much, yet you can track easily. As I mentioned how you can create your planner and/or your timetable, you can additionally create a to do list to track what you have done, how you achieved your goals, you did miss something that you did not realize, etc.

You can create your assignments date with your calendar; the reason is that you should not miss your deadlines and you will mark them as done afterwards.

You can create your daily duties on your to do list, it is the best track your study for you. In your to do list, you should include;

Your study time: exp. Finish that homework, and/or prepare your exams/asaignments, and/or take some notes and read books and analyze them for essay.

Your study plan: exp. Use pomodora technique, create to do list before studying, create a timetable weekly or daily etc.

I hope this helps

Carolina’s Answer

Balance is key in life, and there's a reason it's called that. You never want to overdo it with your hobbies and socializing to the point where you feel overwhelmed due to lack of time. Rather than focusing on the quantity of activities, seek out those that truly bring you joy and fulfillment. Look for things that give you a sense of purpose, foster a sense of community, and most importantly, make you happy.

Like many people, I have a variety of hobbies that I enjoy, some of which are season-dependent. During the sunny summer months, you'll often find me outside, soaking up the sun and enjoying nature. But when winter rolls around, I prefer cozy indoor activities like reading a good book or cooking up a delicious meal. So really, it all depends on the time and place.

Remember, no single thing can guarantee happiness. Maintaining a balanced lifestyle simply helps to prevent burnout and keeps you energized and ready for whatever comes your way.

Carolina recommends the following next steps:

Make a list of the things you like to do and who would you do them with
Start doing them

That's an excellent query! If you're feeling uncertain about hobbies and sports, I recommend trying out a variety of them. This will help you discover which ones are truly worth your time. Over the years, I've delved into numerous activities and always found myself returning to a couple that bring me immense happiness. The same principle applies to friendships. You might begin with a broad circle of friends, but as you mature, you'll likely find a select few who become your go-to companions for everything. Best of luck on your journey!
Thank you comment icon I appreciate the thought put into this response and agree that it's a good idea to try new things to find what you like since it can help us stay curious and explore. Simran

The truth is, your mental health is more important than any number of hobbies you could have. If you are satisfied with the hobbies/friends that you have now and the time spent with others isn’t negatively affecting your health, then I would say that you are in a great place! As far as having a balanced lifestyle goes, no amount of well-roundedness is worth risking your health. I hope this helps!
