It is a great question! And I'm sure many people have the same question. There are many ways to find a part-time work from home job, like word of mouth, online or local advertisement. Being able to work from home adds flexibility and work-life balance, while poses unique challenges as well. A good way is to see if it works for you is to gradually transit an office job to a work-from home part-time job.

To find what companies are in the areas you seek to work:

Reference USA has corporate information available to the public at no charge (go to the website direct or thru your local library website).
You can enter criteria you seek (city, state, industry codes (SIC), # of employees, revenue, etc.) and then export this information to excel.

Use the information you find to go on the website of the companies you might want to work for and see if they have any openings.

There are so many options for remote work during this time- especially for the companies you mentioned. Go onto their websites and find the "career" section. You can filter out the jobs based on location, position, and whether or not they are work from home/remotely. You can also use Google Jobs and search "remote" "technology" to find other options, too.

As long as you can access the Internet, you can create it at any time to suit your personal interests. It may be online teaching or selling DIY handicrafts on instergram. If it is an Asian region, please refer to the following URL.

George’s Answer

Hi Troy,

In addition to Michelle's guidance, it usually depends on what's your passion.

Have you made a list of your skills, hobbies, and likes?

These should help you identify where you can provide value to someone looking to hire. For example are you good at writing, in which case you can explore creating a blog or helping other students? Are you proficient with any software programs were you can offer guidance to people that are looking for some help working from home? Are you good at tutoring - parents all over the world are looking for help teaching children?

Best of luck!

George

George recommends the following next steps:

List your passions, strengths, and skills
Look for local groups (school, neighborhood ex: NextDoor) to see if anyone has a need
Thank you comment icon Thanks George. I don’t know where to put that or how would that help me? Troy Deluccia

This is a good question! Prove the action you really want to do.
You can pay attention to different job search/recruitment/corporate recruitment website platform/Linkedin App to show your talents/skills/professionals to attract different companies, which have different information and reference value.
In addition, when you are interested in this company, you can do your homework first to understand the company's background/culture/work attitude/prospect, which is very helpful to you.

Judy’s Answer

Hi Troy,

When Covid-19 hit, many companies have been and still are practicing safety for their employees = moving employees from the office into their homes.

When you search for virtual roles, consider the following:
* Office coordinators
* Front Desk
* Anything telemarketing
- Customer service
- Technical support

You should also check your equipment and internet. Some may require minimum while others may ship all the equipment you need.

Good luck!

Judy

Great question! I agree with all of the notes above but also caution you that if a company is telling you that you have to put up any "startup" money or pay for anything, I would check the legitimacy of the company before doing that. And never give your banking info to anyone! :) Best of luck to you.

Brittany’s Answer

Hi Troy,

There are many different ways to find part time jobs in your local area, some of the resources I used in my own personal job search have been:
- any personal connections you have with friends/family/etc.
- ads in the local newspaper
- Google Search
- going to your local retailers, restaurants, etc and asking for a job application in person
- if you know of local businesses, you can check their websites and see if there is an application online

Hope this helps!
