How can I reach out to science labs asking for an internship as a high school student?
Could anyone provide email templates for requesting a medical or chemistry internship as a high school student trying to work with popular and selective research labs?

Generally you can't just email an organization asking for an internship, they usually have designated internship programs that are set up for success for everyone involved. These are usually a part of the labs/offices website and you can apply to them there. Many research and medical internships are highly competitive, so you should apply to as many as possible. If you're having trouble locating specific internships, I would reach out to your school's counselor or science professors to see if they have any recommendations for you.

Hello, Anandita !
Although the current internships in your area may not be in science or in research labs, I have found information on a site that lists internships of all kinds in your area. I will leave the link below. Bookmark this page so that you can check back now and than to see if anything in a science lab comes up. The quickest way to find out would be to call all the hospitals and labs in your area and ask if they have any internships available for high school students. I have provided a list of hospitals in your area in a link below. That would be the best way to quickly obtain the information. Also, put a call into LabCorp at (678) 546 - 6726 and ask about any internships there. Phoning or visiting may be the route you may want to go because they may not be posting their internship opportunities on line.
Also try your local colleges and University science department. Be persistent and do not give up gathering the information.
Best wishes in your search and I hope you find a very satisfying internship !

You may need to reach out to a university to see if there are researchers willing to let you shadow or speak over the phone. Most laboratories are fairly secure to protect their research and patient information.
College Summer programs for high school students could be a way to make connections and get exposure to the research field.

Hi Anna,
It's great that you are interested in working a science lab. A good start would be reaching out to professors (ones who have a research lab) in universities close to where you stay. Most research labs will have PhD students. Spending a summer with them and shadowing them is great way to learn how to conduct research. If you do good work, the professors can even help you with recommendation letters, which help a lot in college applications.
