Why do careers sometimes end up being different in our futures even though we try to reach a specific one?

I thinks as we get older our goals and objectives change in life.
When we are in college many of us have a specific way at viewing the world, and set goals and objectives that match that youthful enthusiasm.
But then reality starts to creep into that reality. The real world starts to alter the goals we had, especially as the pressures of economics starts to hit.
I have seen many students have specific goals in college, but as they entered the economy, after graduation, they realized they had to change those goals.
Either the job market was not strong in their chosen field, or they needed to look for a higher paying position that did not match their earlier life goals.
So, the economy, low demand, and need for higher compensation and better quality of life, can alter our life goals, as we get older.

You're life is full of unplanned change, learning, and opportunities. Your vision and knowledge when you are 20 is definitely more restricted than when you are 40 and have been in the work force for a while. In that period, you find more opportunities, some that even did not exist when you started your career, or you learn something new that resonate to you.
Or simply your life change and you need a career that fits more your new lifestyle. So many factors. Even your own tastes evolved with time.

They don't always, but what one thinks she or he is interested in or capable of when young is likely to change over time. One also comes to face the reality of what an intended career entails rather than what one had imagined it to be or to require. If you're passionate about something now, by all means pursue it. But build in some flexibility to allow for growth, inspiration and change.

As we age, it's not so much that our careers change, but rather, our genuine interests begin to shine through. When we're young, we see things from a different perspective, but as we mature, our viewpoints evolve. So, it's fair to suggest that we don't just change our careers, we refine them, honing in on what truly captivates us. This is a positive and enriching process, allowing us to grow and thrive in our professional lives.
