Veterinary medicine is hard but also very rewarding. I suggest finding a clinic that will let you shadow them for the day so that you can see the ins and outs. Once you complete your schooling to be a registered technician, your options open up to include many areas of veterinary medicine, not just clinical work. If this is your passion don’t let others talk you out of it. Any career will be hard work so find a job you love and it’ll be less so.

Christina’s Answer

Hi Maddie,
A lot of times I was told the same thing and I wanted to be a meteorologist (study the weather), my sister-in-law is a vet tech and absolutely loves it. It does take a lot of schooling and hard work but if this is what you love to do it will be worth it in the end. Don't let others opinions scare you away from something you really want to do and will love. It is is up to you what you want to do in your life so if down the line you decide this is not for you then go ahead and make a career change but the decision is yours not others. You got this!

Hi, Maddie,
I'll be brief. Any career that you might enjoy will take hard work to get there. In life, there are many easy jobs, but any job of substance is going to require work. The good news is that you will feel so good afterwards. Do not be discouraged. In training, you will find each day that you are doing better and better. I wish you well.
