If you're thinking about getting your ADN, a qualification that many community colleges provide, you might be in for a pleasant surprise. You could potentially study for free in your home state. For instance, Michigan is on the verge of offering free tuition to students over 21 who enroll in their local community college. It's definitely an opportunity worth considering. Here's the link for more information.

Medication Aid or Medical Assistant? Either way, it's approximately 2 years for core nursing programs for an RN. If you have other courses taken they may accept those for any required pre-requisite courses prior to a nursing program. There are a few diploma programs across the country that are hospital based and a select few teaching hospitals that have an accelerated 9 month RN degree program in conjunction with the university they are associated with. Hopefully that gives a little more clarity for you. Best bet is to speak with a college, hospital diploma program director, or university that is tied to a teaching hospital to determine if any current certifications you have would transfer to them for any courses and to get a definite time frame.

It depends on a few factors. If you want to get medical education, it may take longer (at least a few years.) If you are going to start working after obtaining the necessary college training and certifications, it may take a bit shorter in terms of time. In all cases, the most important is when you are sure to be on the right career path and doing a job which fits to your personality traits and interests.
