Hello Aidan!

Feeling nervous is completely normal, so don't underestimate your abilities! Remember, science is a fascinating journey of curiosity, where you're encouraged to ask questions and explore new ideas. The concepts might seem difficult at first, but your teacher is there to guide you towards success. Never hesitate to ask any number of questions until you fully grasp the subject.

Hello Aidan,

Feeling a bit nervous about your science classes in 7th grade is completely normal, and it's okay to feel this way. Remember, you're in a phase of life where you're still discovering your strengths and passions. Therefore, it's crucial to start finding ways to bolster your confidence early in the school year, rather than waiting until the pressure really mounts.

If you find yourself grappling with the complexities of science, don't hesitate to reach out to your teacher. They are there to assist you and can offer extra resources and guidance that can pave the way to your success.

Consider also the possibility of joining a study group or engaging a tutor for that extra boost. Remember, science isn't just about the results, it's about the journey of discovery and learning.

Identify what aspects of science cause you concern or apprehension, and don't be shy to seek advice from your teacher, counselor, or even a classmate about it.

Remember, every challenge you face is an opportunity to learn and grow. I hope this advice helps you on your journey. Keep going, you've got this!

Hello Aidan, so first question: why do you think you're not good at science?
Is it something that was told to you, or do you feel you're not understanding the topics?
I'd suggest you to have a discussion with your teacher. Keep us posted!

Emma’s Answer

Hey Aidan!

7th grade is going to be a blast! You'll have more freedom than you did in 6th grade but also more responsibilities. First off, get to know your schedule so that you know where your classrooms are, who your teachers are, and most importantly, when you need to be where. Being late can get you in trouble and cause unnecessary stress which could negatively impact learning. You want to set yourself up for the best chance of success in science, and being in time is the first step

Will you have a textbook for science class? If so, you can get started by pre-reading the textbook. Just flip through the pages and see if you can start to understand how long each chapter is, how many pictures there are, if there are any practice questions and if there are answers in the back of the book. If you hate reading textbooks, consider alternative methods of learning, such as watching Khan Academy or Youtube videos. You can take a subject you are learning about (for example, photosynthesis) and instead of reading about photosynthesis for 30 minutes in your textbook, just search "photosynthesis" on Youtube or Khan Academy and watch some videos. This can be a more effective way to learn the same material.

Science is all about understanding how things work. Interactive methods of learning are often useful for science. See if there are any online educational games that can help you. Sometimes forcing yourself to be an active participant (like in a game) is better than being a passive learner (like sitting through a class). You will probably have to do both throughout school but the sooner you figure out how your brain learns best, the easier school will be.

It also doesn't hurt to let your science teacher know that science is really hard for you. Ask if they have any extra resources that you can use. Maybe they know some great online games for the particular unit you're on or maybe they can connect you with a previous student who can tutor you. Best of luck, you got this!!
