To improve your NBA chances you can join a local Amateur Athletic Union team and play in tournaments in front of college recruiters. Improve your game by watching videos of yourself and working one-on-one with a coach. As a college player, play in showcases to connect with NBA recruiters, or play internationally if your school isn’t a hub for scouts.
Also, looks for try outs on colleges in your area.

Whenever I come across a job/industry I'm interested in working in, I like to google how to become a part of said-job/industry. If there is a wiki-how available, that always helps provide step-by-step directions on how to achieve your goal. In this instance, I was able to find the following: "Make your high school team so you can get onto a college team. You must be 19 to play in the NBA, and most players are drafted out of college. Excel to the best of your ability in high school and AAU basketball, so you can play at a competitive basketball school such as Duke, Kentucky, or North Carolina" (www.wikihow.com).
The best suggestion will always be to practice, however; keep improving your skills and never give up. It can be a long road to become a success in the NBA world, so just make sure not to lose heart. There may be times where you lose or do not do well, but everyone makes mistakes -- you can determine what kind of person you want to be by deciding how to react to making a mistake; that's what makes you who you are.
