What are important things to look at when deciding on a college Are there certain red or green flags that I should look out for? What questions should I be asking??

I am in my senior year of high school and applying to colleges. I am still not sure where I want to go, and I think that I could narrow down my options by knowing what to look for.

Don't spend a fortune if you don't have to. Of course you want to choose a well respected school that meets your needs, but it's almost never worth putting yourself or your parents in debt to go to the most expensive place on your list. Do make sure the school offers any possible majors you might be considering, along with any extra curricular activities that matter to you. And make sure it's located in a place that's the right distance from your home, and that you wouldn't mind living in long-term. Often people end up living near their university after they graduate, because they meet people there and start working there, and then it's easy to end up staying. If you're considering a major that involves hands on training, check out the opportunities available in that department, or with nearby companies, supported by the department. Read the bios of the faculty in the department that you're interested in. If one of them has worked for just a few years each at many different schools, that person may not be a great instructor.

Hi Sarah,

There are many ways to decide what college is right for you. First of all, you should decide your college major. You can do that by following your main interests, aspirations in life and dreams. Then try to find study programs which match your chosen major.
All the best.

Thank you for your question. Many students have similar. You may need to find what major and minors you like to take before deciding the college. Different colleges have different strong subjects.
Below are my suggestions :
1. Think about what you careers you have interest
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counsellor, your parents, etc.
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue. Identify the relevant subjects be the major and minor
5. Find out the colleges review on the relevant subjects and their entry criteria
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
